FERRARI formula classic Castle Combe Round 8 2005 One of the few pictures taken at Brands, this one show Matt in the rear wheel arch and Adam in the cockpit both besperately trying to sort out the brakes , but we just ran out of time. The most disappointing race was Brands, brake trouble right at the last moment prevented me competing in the race, and I had to glumly watch from Graham Hill Bend, I was so looking forward to the finale on the Kent Grand Prix circuit - a rare opportunity. In retrospect I have to say Brands was the one to miss, and I can't help wondering if it was fate as I would have been likely in the thick of Marco's spin, in addition no one enjoys the majority of race laps behind the Pace Car. Also to the above the tow car expired in a cloud of steam on the M25, forcing me to abandon the car and trailer at the hotel just off junction 26. Extracting the TR from the trailer and driving it to Brands for the following days qualifying session wasn't on my agenda. I borrowed a tow car and returned home on the Saturday - post race with the stricken tow car now in the trailer, getting back to Brands at midnight to enjoy the A1GP race on the following day - Sunday. The Britt, after taking the lead during the pit stop went out with engine trouble while the Pace Car did more laps. Lastly thank you to all thoes people who came up and had a chat and for expressing their enthusiasm that is provoked by my little car, it makes me realise how fortunate I am! In summary over the last three seasons in Gp1 I have had: 6 Lap Records 8 Wins 4 Seconds 1 Third 1 DNF 1 DNS With an immesurable amount of enjoyment! |
