A phone call from Rob Bishop, a team mate from last years 24 hour, asking if I would like to join him, David Hall and Jonathan Walters in this years 24 hour didn't really take much thinking about.
Rob explained it would be in their Honda Integra "R" and run by "R" Sport.
The car sporting my sponsors logo "last lap" & RMA
livery was as used by Rob et al in the ISCS, the 24hr being a round of their championship.

We all qualified the car but as John started our second qualifying session, he came in  with a stripped 4th gear.

The team worked through the night, making one good gearbox from two, along with a few borrowed parts.

We were all down to drive a total of 6 hours each. Rob took the start, making up several places on the GP circuit alone.
Jonathan drove a storming second, I was down to drive next, and again after a two hour rest and my last was to be about 1pm on the Sunday. My drives were to be fairly uneventful, unlike last year.

Dave took the finish, 1771 miles, one wheel bearing, a few tyres, and lot of petrol later we FINISHED!
We didn't care where, so long as we finished.
We were actually 102nd (4th in class) out of 240
qualifiers, only 155 starters completed the ordeal!
The carnage was most apparent post race, as cars were retrieved from around the circuit and delivered to the paddock. Some cars looking very misused indeed.

A Chrysler Viper won driven by Peter Zakowski, Michael Bartels & Pedro Lamy. Just a few of the well know names in this truly
International event.

It is with deep regret I have to report Christian Peruzzi lost this his life in practice. Christian's was the German importer for Fiat, Alpha & Lancia. His Alpha 147 spun off at 120 mph, hit a kerb and barrel-rolled onto its roof, he was 38.
Our sympathy goes to his relatives, team & friends.
